Other Psychiatric Disorders

PTSD is not the only psychological disorder which can be service-connected.  Veterans may be eligible for compensation for:
  • “Schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders” (delusions, hallucinations)
  • “Delerium, dementia, and amnestic and other cognitive disorders” (dementia, Alzheimer’s)
  • “Anxiety disorders” (OCD, PTSD, panic disorder, agoraphobia)
  • “Dissociative disorders” (multiple personality disorder, dissociative amnesia)
  • “Somatoform disorders” (conversion disorder, pain disorder)
  • “Mood disorders” (bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder)
  • “Chronic adjustment disorders”
  • “Eating disorders”
Veterans who have been diagnosed with one of the above disorders may also have a claim for PTSD, or may be suffering from PTSD and were previously misdiagnosed.
